The second International chess tournament Serbia Open 2022 started today in the big hall of the Master Center in Novi Sad, with the participation of 400 chess players from 41 countries.

The opening ceremony, with an appropriate cultural and artistic program, was held just before the start of the first round. The president of the Serbian Chess Federation - Dragan Lazić, the executive director for congress activities of the Master Center - Andrea Knezi, a member of the city Council for sports and youth - Ognjen Cvjetićanin, and the Provincial secretary for youth and sports - Dane Basta, who had the honor to open the tournament, addressed the audience. All of them symbolically made the first moves on the leading boards.

The anthem of Serbia and two music songs were performed by Olja Petrović from Novi Sad, once a two-time winner of the competition for francophone songs in Serbia, and the program was hosted by Isidora Bokan. The tournament will be played in the period from June 28 to July 6, 2022. The participants are divided into two groups: Master and Amateur, and they will all play 9 rounds according to the Swiss system. The total prize pool for the tournament is 35,000 euros.
