Despite the fact that the "Ivo Andrić" hall of the "Metropol Palace" hotel has 800 square meters, and that the additional "Lavender" hall has 240 square meters, the organizer decided to limit the number of participants to 460. They made this decision having in mind the concerns regarding the epidemiological safety of participants.
At the time of writing of this article (June 11th), 412 participants from 41 national federations from all continents have applied to participate in the "Serbia Open 2021". Among them are 55 grandmasters and 15 participants with a rating of 2600 and higher.
Tournament participants who pay all their expenses on time (entry fee, hotel or transfer) do not need to register separately for the tournament. Their name is guaranteed to be on the list of pairings of the first round.
